Accepting a Team Invitation
Prerequisites
Accept an invitation to join a team on ReelStorage. When someone invites you to their organization, you receive an email containing a link. This guide walks you through opening that link, reviewing the invitation details, and joining the team.
What You'll Learn
- How to open an invitation link from your email
- How to review the invitation details before accepting
- What happens after you accept the invitation
- How to decline an invitation you do not want to accept
Step 1: Open the Invitation Link
Check your email for an invitation from ReelStorage. The email includes the organization name and a button to accept. Click the button to open the invitation page in your browser. If you are not signed in, ReelStorage redirects you to the sign-in page first, then brings you back to the invitation after you authenticate.

Step 2: Review the Invitation Details
The invitation page displays several pieces of information you should confirm before proceeding:
- You're signing in as shows the email address you are currently authenticated with. Confirm this matches the email that received the invitation.
- Invited by shows the email handle of the person who sent the invitation (the part before the @ sign).
- Your role shows the role you will have in the organization (for example, Member or Owner). This determines what actions you can perform once you join.
The "What happens next?" section at the bottom explains what access you get after joining, including access to organization projects and the ability to leave at any time from settings.

Step 3: Accept or Decline the Invitation
Two buttons appear at the bottom of the invitation card. Click Accept Invitation to join the organization. If you do not want to join, click Decline instead. Both actions are permanent for this invitation. If you decline and change your mind, the admin needs to send a new invitation.

Declining an invitation cannot be undone. If you are unsure, ask the person who invited you for more context before making a decision.
Step 4: Confirmation and Next Steps
After accepting, a success message confirms you joined the organization. ReelStorage then redirects you to the onboarding page where you can set up your profile for the team, including your display name and avatar.

Tips and Best Practices
- Accept promptly. Invitations expire after a set period. Check your email and accept before the link expires.
- Use the right account. Make sure you are signed in with the email address that received the invitation. Invitations are tied to a specific email.
- Check your role. Your assigned role determines what you can do in the organization. If you need different permissions, ask the person who invited you to update your role after you join.
- Multiple organizations. You can belong to more than one organization. Switch between them using the organization selector in the sidebar.
Troubleshooting
The invitation link says it is expired
Invitations have an expiration date. Ask the team admin to send a new invitation from the organization settings page.
I see "Invitation Not Found" when I click the link
The invitation may have been canceled by the admin, or the link may be malformed. Reach out to the person who invited you and ask them to resend it.
I accepted but cannot see any projects
Your team admin needs to add you to specific projects after you join the organization. Contact them and ask for access to the projects you need.
I am signed in with the wrong email
Sign out from the current account, then sign in with the email address that received the invitation. Open the invitation link again after signing in.
